Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)
Brief Description
Since 2015, anyone buying a pesticide authorised for professional use must obey a key legal requirement. The law demands that the pesticide will be used either by the holder of a relevant certificate, or by a person working under the direct supervision of someone who holds one.
This course has been developed in direct response to that legal requirement for pesticide use. You will earn a recognised qualification that reflects the national standards for the type of role you perform.
Face to Face Learning with a computer based Assessment at the end of the training day:

Course Duration: 1 Day
Assessment: Computer based Multiple choice assessment. (Max 1 Hour)

Online Learning (self learning at home or work) and Assessment Options
Accreditation: Lantra
Online Course Duration: 4 – 6 hours approx
Price: £300+VAT
Assessment Options:
Option 1: Assessment to take place at Vicky Anderson Training, DL6 2TD: Computer based Multiple choice assessment. (Max 1 Hour)
Option 2: Assessment to take the test ‘Proctored’ at home:
- The exam is timed for 1 hour from the moment you start the first question
- Only one attempt per purchase is allowed. A candidate may purchase more than one assessment
- The exam is subject to remote invigilation and scrutiny by a third party exam body. The test results are independently audited and you will be informed whether you have passed or failed.
- On successful completion of the test, the candidate will be notified and receive a LANTRA certificate.
- This assessment can only be completed on a laptop or desktop computer – iPads, tablets and phones CANNOT be used.

What will be covered?
This qualification will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the safe use and application of pesticides. Our course will also assess your knowledge and understanding of:
- The regulations regarding safe use of pesticides
- Pesticide product information
- Hazards and risks associated with pesticides
- Personal safety when using pesticides
- The measures to deal with pesticide poisoning
- Safe working practices
- The requirements for protected areas
- Environmental risks and protection of wildlife
- How to deal with incidents
- Factors to consider when using pesticides
Reasonable adjustments are considered for candidates who have dyslexia or other reading difficulties. The certification bodies require written proof / statement of learning 4 weeks in advance, so please get in touch well before the exam is required to sort this out.
Cancellation Policy
The full cost of the course is to be paid before the start of the course.
If you cancel your place you will be liable for 100% of the cost. Unless a cancellation is received in writing 14 days prior to the commencement of the course.
