Who should do this course?
Chainsaws are potentially dangerous machines which can cause major injury if used by untrained people. ANYONE who uses a chainsaw at work should have received adequate training and be competent in using a chainsaw for that type of work.

Who is the course for?Any person employed in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance who is or will be required to operate woodchippers. Inexperienced members may require longer than the stated guide times to fully utilise the information supplied. This is an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, and successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Basic Training and ID card.
Any person employed in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance who is or will be required to operate brushcutters / strimmers.
This is a one day LANTRA course.
All workers who use a chainsaw should be competent to do so. Before using a chainsaw to carry out work on or in a tree, a worker should have received appropriate training and obtained a relevant certificate of competence or national competence award , unless they are undergoing training and are adequately supervised.
